CFDA Awards: June Ambrose apologizes for mistakenly asking if the late Kate Spade attended

Celebrity stylist June Ambrose is apologizing for an on-air blunder at the 2019 CFDA Fashion Awards after she asked if the late Kate Spade would be in attendance.

Ambrose, 47, faced some backlash following her awkward interview with entrepreneur Hannah Bronfman, who attended the “Oscars of fashion” with Kate Spade’s creative director Nicola Glass, actresses Beanie Feldstein, Molly Gordon and Sadie Sink in New York City Monday night.

“I love that (you’re) wearing Kate Spade, another one of my favorite American designers,” Ambrose said to Bronfman, before asking, “Are you here with Kate? Is she here? You came before her or did she skip by me?”

Bronfman calmly responded, “I’m here with the Kate Spade New York team.”

The exchange starts at the 1 hour and 22 minute mark.

Ambrose, who has styled the likes of Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and Missy Elliott, took to Twitter Tuesday to issue an apology for the flub.

“Good morning I want to address an error I made last night while hosting the CFDA red carpet,” she tweeted. “I sincerely apologize to the family and friends of the late Kate Spade, in addition to the team at Kate Spade for having misspoken. I made a mistake and I’m sorry to those I offended.”

On Instagram, she also shared the message: “I am one beautiful disaster, perfectly imperfect!”
