Carol Vorderman fondly remembered a “dear friend” who died last week, during a fund-raising early morning walk in Wales today. The Countdown legend spoke of her loved one as she stopped to take in the stunning scenery along the coast.

“Sometimes walking helps us remember those we’ve lost,” she captioned a video upload in view of her 463,300 followers.

In the clip, Carol wore dark sunglasses and her long brunette tresses loose as she spoke of her loss.

“I lost a dear friend last week. Someone I loved very much. So many of us loved,” the 60-year-old TV and radio star said.

Carol went on to say that being outdoors helped her feel more “connected” with those she had lost.

“So sometimes when you are missing someone, whether they’ve passed in old age or suddenly and too soon, being out in the open seems to connect you with them again.

“I’m a coastal path. I’m on the beach, all alone. The early walker. Thinking of people as we should,” she continued.

Carol is taking part in The Big Walk, run by a Welsh charity, raising awareness for prostate cancer.

The initiative encourages participants to walk 26 miles during the month of July.

The challenge can be done in one big outing or broken down into more manageable smaller walks.

Many took to the comments section of Carol’s post to share their love and their own stories of loss.

“Carol I lost my wife earlier this year to covid. Walking has helped me so much,” one follower wrote.

“Totally agree, a quiet walk will always bring back them precious memories,”(sic) another added.

One user reached out and shared a picture of Carol with his late wife.

“I lost my wife just under 3 years ago, one of her last famous moments was meeting you at RAF 100 celebrations when you joined us for lunch,” he wrote.

“I’m so very sorry to hear this… so sorry for your loss,” Carol replied, before sharing her memory of the event.

“I remember that day and I remember that photo.

“Your wife was an absolute joy to meet and spend time with. You must miss her immensely. I’m sure all of us here are sending you love,” she kindly replied.

Throughout the day, Carol has been sharing updates from various locations along her walk, each as stunning as the last.

“When I’m walking I always take the path less travelled….it might be a little trickier in parts but the journey….well…..INTERESTING THINGS HAPPEN AT THE EDGES. Join us on @pcbigwalk,”(sic) Carol penned.
