Beyonce was put into the official Lion King pic, John Oliver confirms

Beyonce was Photoshopped into the official Lion King cast picture, her costar John Oliver confirms

When the queen is busy, everyone else must find a way to make it work.

Late night talk show host John Oliver, who plays the chirpy king’s attendant Zazu in the new live action Disney blockbuster The Lion King, confirmed speculation that Beyonce, who stars alongside him as Nala, was not actually present for the cast’s official photo shoot.

When he recently appeared on The Late Show to discuss the film with late night contemporary Stephen Colbert, Oliver looked at the cast photo in question and said, ‘She wasn’t there. No she wasn’t there… I think almost everyone else was there.’

The magic of Photoshop: Oliver recalled how the cast were told to leave space for the singer as they all assembled for the picture during an interview with Stephen Colbert on Sunday

The photo features Beyonce and Oliver along with cast-mates Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Eric André, Florence Kasumba, Keegan-Michael Key, JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph all dressed in black.

Beyonce is in the center of the picture in the back row, and speculation arose when the picture was released as to whether the singer was indeed present when the still was taken.

Oliver, who appears in the frame just to the right of queen Bey, recalled to Colbert his experience at the shoot.

‘Chiwetel [Ejiofor] was sitting in the front and he said, “You need to be careful where your foot is,”‘ the Last Week Tonight star said.

When he realized he may be encroaching on Beyonce’s presence, he had a rather strong, expletive-filled reaction.

‘It was like an electrical reaction. Just the future presence of Beyonce was so intimidating,’ he mused.

‘If you look at my face in there, I look really intimidated and that’s because what I’m doing is imagining that I am about to be put into a photo with Beyonce one day, and that was nerve-wracking enough!’
