Reality star Bethenny Frankel’s boyfriend Dennis Shields helped to explain his sudden death at Trump Tower last week.
The businessman, 51, who had dated reality star Bethenny, 47, on and off since 2016, was discovered dead in his Trump Tower apartment in New York City on Friday August, 10 after reportedly suffering an overdose from prescription painkiller oxycodone.
And according to TMZ he was able to speak a few words to paramedics before he died.
He told the emergency responders and police that he’d taken some of his prescribed oxycodone as well as Vicodin and a sleeping pill to ease the pain from a back injury.
Doctors warn that it can be deadly to take opioids with sleeping pills or other sedatives as both types of drugs slow respiratory function.
Combined can have a dangerous, synergistic effect that could result in death.
When he woke up on Friday morning, Dennis had asked his housekeeper to go to a pharmacy to buy Narcan – which reverses the effects of an opioid overdose – after he awoke feeling ill on Friday morning.
Despite the housekeeper reportedly administering two doses of Narcan, at some point Dennis is said to have lost consciousness and was pronounced dead following the arrival of paramedics.
According to E! Online , Bethenny is said to be “heartbroken” over his death.
She took to Instagram this week to pay tribute to Dennis and her late dog on Instagram.
"Rest In Peace my sweet babies who gave me endless unconditional love. #nowandforever," she wrote.
Bethenny had recently been through a difficult divorce with ex-husband Jason Hoppy, and subsequent custody battle over their eight-year-old daughter Bryn.
Viewers of the hit reality show saw her break down in a recent episode, as she revealed her anxiety ahead of the expiration of a restraining order she had against ex Jason, 47.
