Best new lip glosses for 2019 to plump the look of your pout

If there's one beauty trend that never goes out of fashion, it's glossy, healthy looking lips.

Thankfully the sticky formulas from the 90s haven't made a comeback, and glosses these days are made to last for longer, condition lips and give them a boost of volume.

No matter what your budget is, there's an option that just right for you – from a £3 gloss that smells of chocolate to a £19 one that is getting five star reviews for adding plumpness.

The Notebook beauty team have tested five new ones to help you choose…

Revlon Kiss Cushion Lip, £7.99

Beauty director Lynne says: "Goes on with the gleam of a gloss but there’s a tinted stain underneath, so the colour stays rather than being wiped away with a bite of sarnie."

Iconic London Lip Plumping Gloss, £19

Lynne says: "The tingling makes lips FEEL bigger, and it’s not just a placebo effect. My lips really did look plumped and pouty.

"It’s not quite lip filler in a tube, but pretty damn close. Expensive, but I love it."

I Heart Revolution Chocolate Lip Gloss, £3

Beauty writer Zoe says: "This light, flattering pink smells like chocolate and feels creamy on the lips.

"There’s also salted caramel, chocolate brownie and honeycomb nudes to suit all skin tones."

Smashbox Gloss Angeles Lip Gloss, £15

Beauty editor Octavia says: "This is amazing – it’s shiny and glossy but doesn’t feel tacky, heavy or sticky on my lips and it stays in place for hours. My new fave."

Kiko Water Flower Magic Vinyl Effect Lip Lacquer, £8.90

Zoe says: "I was surprised by how punchy these colours look on.

"These six shades of pinks and corals have a high shine, but with the tint of a lipstick – really nice, just doesn’t stay on very long."
