Ariana Grande overcome with emotion after Mac Miller’s death on walk with fiancé

Ariana Grande was overcome with emotion as she stepped out in New York with her fiancé Pete Davidson.

The popstar missed the recent Emmy Awards to take some "much needed time to heal and mend" after her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller’s untimely death.

"She will be staying close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without deadline. She thanks her fans for their understanding," a representative for her said.

And as she recuperates, she headed out for a stroll with her husband-to-be.

Clutching his hand for support, she lay her head on his chest at one point.

Pete has been a "huge support" for his fiancee as she comes to terms with the recent death of Mac, according to Entertainment Tonight.

"Mac’s death has been one of the most painful things she has ever had to deal with in her life," the source said.

"She loved him very much, but she knew she couldn’t help him. Mac clearly needed rehab and Ariana couldn’t be his girlfriend and his sober coach."

They added: "It caused her to feel terribly depressed. While she knows it’s not her fault, hearing people telling her that was more than she could handle," the source shares. "Pete has been a huge support to Ariana through a very difficult time."

According to an Emmy Awards seating chart, Ariana was due to attend the 70th annual awards with her fiance.

However, the pair were noticeably absent from Monday’s ceremony as Pete’s Saturday Night Live co-stars took to the stage to collect the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.

“Contrary to reports, Ariana will not be attending the Emmys tonight,” her representative later said. “Pete has also opted to not attend to be with her in New York.”

The pop star was devastated when the rapper was found dead of a suspected overdose at his Los Angeles home on 7 September.

Ariana and Mac had dated for two years before splitting this May, with the singer admitting they had a "toxic relationship" as he struggled to deal with drug addiction.

She started dating Pete just weeks later and they announced their engagement in June.

In addition to the death of her ex-boyfriend, Ariana has also been dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after her Manchester concert was the target of a terrorist bombing in May 2017.

However, it looks like Ariana may have a new family member to help take her mind off things after Pete bought her a pet pig.

The pair have been showing off the tiny creature on their Instagram stories, which they’ve apparently named Piggy Smallz.
