Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani fell in love while going through divorce
Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s relationship reportedly ended in July 2015, according to Country Living. Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s marriage ended the same year. Shelton and Stefani were working together on The Voice at the time and his divorce announcement brought them closer.
“That’s kind of how our friendship and bond started, that day,” Shelton told Billboard. “It went from that, to checking in on each other once a week through email — ‘This sh*t happened to me, what happened to you?’ — to maybe three times a week, then every day, to ‘Hey, here’s my phone number if you ever want to text.’”
He then said, “Next thing I know, I wake up and she’s all I care about, and I’m wondering if she feels the same about me.”
The couple reportedly didn’t want to ‘rock the boat’ trying to move forward
There was later a report that there was a reason why the couple hasn’t gotten engaged yet. The singers were reportedly happy with their relationship the way it is and it showed.
“Gwen and Blake have come so far and are happier than they have ever been,” a source reportedly told ET. “Blake talks about Gwen nonstop. Just this week his friends were talking about how he glows when he refers to her. He gushes about her a lot and it’s really sweet.”
There was a reason they didn’t get engaged yet. “They have talked a lot about marriage, but have decided that life has been so great that they don’t want to rock the boat yet,” a source claimed. “They are so incredibly in love and have supported each other through tough times. They truly are best friends and have made their lives work together despite their very busy schedules.”
They are reportedly taking things slow after falling so soon after their divorces
Their divorces might have brought them closer. But the couple is reportedly taking things slow because of that.
“Gwen and Blake fell in love so soon after their marriages ended that they needed to take time to live their new lives together,” a source told ET. “They both were in very difficult situations and relied on one another throughout their process.”
The source continued, “It actually brought them closer together. Blake loves Gwen and had always wanted children, so her boys have been one of the biggest gifts in his life. He raves about them all the time.”
