Angelina Jolie Files for Divorce from Brad Pitt!

Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt.

No, this is not a drill.

This is actually happening, people.

TMZ has broken the truly shocking news, reporting this morning that Jolie filed legal divorce documents on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences.

The development comes about one week after In Touch Weekly published a cover story that claimed a $400 million divorce battle was set to proceed between Jolie and Pitt, but we didn’t believe the claim when it ran.

Because it wasn’t exactly the first time a tabloid had alleged these A-Listers were headed for a split.

It wasn’t the second, third or fourth time, either.

So, what happened to turn this into a stunning reality? What prompted Jolie to take this unexpected step?

TMZ writes that Jolie’s decision was centered on “the way Brad was parenting the children.” She has allegedly grown “extremely upset with his methods.”

To be clear, insiders indicate, there is no third party. There is no cheating scandal. Don’t even think about writing the words “Jennifer Aniston” here.

Instead, TMZ emphasizes that Jolie arrived at this legal decision solely over Brad’s interaction with the couple’s six kids.

No other information has been provided at this time, but imaginations will surely be running wild with speculation over what this could possibly mean.

This is backed up by the fact that Jolie is asking for physical custody of all six children.

In her filing, she is asking the judge to grant Pitt visitation only; the actress does not want the actor to have joint physical custody, merely joint legal custody.

This is significant. And very telling.

Jolie has hired famous divorce attorney Laura Wasser to represent her and is not asking for spousal support.

She lists the date of separation as September 15, 2016.

Jolie and Pitt, of course, got together back in 2004.

From the very beginning, the romance was plagued by rumors and speculation as to how they got together and whether it would last.

The notion that Pitt cheated on Aniston while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Jolie – though such chatter has never been confirmed – became legend.

Pitt and Jolie have managed to remain near the very top of all celebrity couples, in terms of interest from the public, despite actually being very low-key.

At least seemingly so.

By all accounts, the famous humanitarians spend more time traveling the globe for charitable endeavors than they spend on red carpets.

Following approximately 10 years together, Jolie and Pitt secretly married in 2014 at their Chateau Miraval in France.

The stars exchanged vows inside of a small chapel in a private ceremony attended by family and friends.

Prior to the nondenominational civil ceremony, which took the Internet by storm at the time, they arranged the event on the DL.

The movie stars obtained a marriage license from a local California judge, who also conducted the wedding ceremony in France.

All six kids – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, along with twins Knox and Viviennne – took part in their parents’ wedding.

While no credible source had reported on an impending divorce until today, there had been more tabloid stories than usual lately.

Over the past few weeks alone, there had been several accounts about major trouble in Brangelina paradise.

That saying about a broken clock and how many times per day it is accurate comes to mind … looks like you’re the clock today, In Touch:

This was the second marriage and third marriage for Jolie, who also tied the knot with Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller.

So, in that regard, we guess we shouldn’t be too surprised.

The divorce rate is near 50% in America anyway and both of these people had previously failed in marriages.

But still: HOLY $HIT, Brad Pitt and Angelins Jolie are getting divorced!!!!!!!!!!!!

We somehow doubt this will be the last we hear or report on the story.

But react below and try to help us determine: Where did things go wrong?!?

UPDATE

Robert Offer, another of Jolie’s lawyer, says the actress filed for “dissolution of marriage” on Monday, adding the “decision was made for the health of the family” and stating:

“She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.”
