If you thought Andy Cohen did not reach out to Lisa Vanderpump after her mother’s death, you thought wrong, the Bravo host tweeted Thursday.

The controversy began not long after Vanderpump confirmed on Thursday her mother died unexpectedly in England Monday.

A troll promptly called Cohen out on Twitter for not publicly sending condolences to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum.

“Meanwhile @Andy is too busy tweeting about his world, and not a mention about LVP losing her mom Monday,” wrote a Twitter user by the name of Cathy in a now-deleted tweet, according to People magazine and Us Weekly. “Shame on you Andy.”

Cohen wasn’t having it.

“Cathy we were in touch privately on Tuesday, but I appreciate your concern about how and when I sent my condolences,” he tweeted back.

Fans soon came to Cohen’s defense.

“Maybe he wanted his condolences to be personal and private rather than public and out of concern for how the fans view him,” wrote another Twitter user. “Seems to be the perfect expression of compassion to me”

The death of the Bravo star’s mother, Jean Vanderpump, at 84 follows the death of her brother, Mark Vanderpump, who died last year at 54.

Cohen said he kept their exchange private out of respect for his friend.

“She asked me not to mention it to anyone at all, so I respected her wishes and did not mention it on the air,” he wrote on Twitter. “And before you yell at me for not mentioning it tonight, I want you to know that we pre-tape our Thursday shows.”
