So … Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber actually are married?
In case you momentarily stepped off the roller coaster ride that is Justin and Hailey’s marital status, the duo was spotted at an N.Y.C. courthouse on Thursday, generating headline upon headline about how they up and secretly tied the knot.
Hailey cleared up the rumors herself, tweeting, “I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I’m not married yet!” Confusing us further, she later deleted her tweet.
Honestly this is worse than the seven seasons of Friends we spend wondering if Ross and Rachel would ever get back together.
Luckily, the anticipation this time around was short-lived. Uncle Alec set the record straight on the Emmys red carpet Monday evening, telling Access that his niece and the Biebs “went off and got married.” Though this certainly helps clear things up, it sounds like the 30 Rock star is a little confused, too. “I don’t know what the deal is,” he continued (same Alec, same), “We text Hailey every now and then, we met [Justin] one time.”

According to People, Hailey and Justin wanted to keep their nuptials top-secret, as the actual wedding hoopla is still to come. “They didn’t want anyone but their families to know they got married. This wasn’t a wedding,” a source shared. “They can’t wait to have a wedding. But for other reasons, it was easier for them to get the legal stuff out of the way now and to get married. It was more of a necessary ceremony to make it legal. It doesn’t seem like it was a big deal to them.”

So when will the true Baldwin-Bieber festivities kick off? According to People’s source, “in the next few months.” They’re still in the throes of wedding planning and have to yet to agree on a venue.
Whatever the case, one thing remains unchanged: these two just can’t keep their hands to themselves.
