Adele tweets for the first time THIS YEAR as she breaks social media silence to urge fans to vote in the general election
Adele has broken her Twitter silence, having not posted to the micro-blogging site since December 31 2018.
The Chasing Pavements songstress, 31, sent fans into a frenzy on Tuesday, believing she was making a rare social media appearance to announce new music.
But the star took to her page simply to urge her fans to vote in the UK’s general election – which is being held on 12 December, with voting taking place between 7AM and 10PM.

She told her 27.5 million followers: ‘Don’t forget to Register to Vote before midnight tonight UK ✔️’
She included a link to the government website, which had a deadline set for voting registration on Tuesday night.
The battle to land the job as Britain’s next prime minister will see Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt go head-to-head for the Conservatives and Labour respectively.
A list of the candidates standing [Statement of Persons Nominated] will be posted on local authority websites imminently.
Adele’s tweet, however, led fans to remark, ‘Where is the album?’ and, ‘This notification gave me a heart attack!’
Another parodied her post by replying: ‘Don’t forget to Release the Album before we die of thirst Adele ✔️’
‘I thought it was music related… b***h we miss you!’ another remarked, as someone else tweeted: ‘Ma‘am we need an album!’

Someone else joked, ‘She finally remembered her password!’ as another posted: ‘She’s worried her account will be removed!’
The latter comment was a reference to Twitter announcing they will be culling all inactive accounts on December 11.
If an account has not been used over the last six months, it will be deleted.
Adele’s tweet at the end of 2018 was in memory of the victims of the Grenfell Tower blaze, which took place in 2017.
Her other tweets in 2018 were few and far between, mostly promoting fellow musicians, such as Ed Sheeran, Lauryn Hill and Dolly Parton, as well as a cute photo of her cat.

She also posted a tribute to the late Cranberries singer Delores O’Riordan, who died in January of that year.
Adele’s tweets – and public appearances – are rare, last seen on social media [Instagram this time] at a Halloween party, showcasing her recent weight loss.
Adele is said to have Joe Wicks a.k.a The Body Coach to thank for her reported three stone weight loss, by trying out his online videos.

As well as the social media star, Adele has also reportedly sought assistance from celebrity trainer Dalton Wong, who has worked with the likes of Jennifer Lawrence.
As well as her tweets, Adele’s musical releases are also sparse, hence the fans’ desperation for news on an album.
Despite being worth an estimated £150 million, Adele’s last release came in 2015, when she released album 25.
Her last single was Water Under The Bridge, released in November 2016.
