5 Real Madrid players reprimanded and fined

Five Real Madrid Castilla stars have been reprimanded and fined for flying home from last weekend’s clash against Celta Viga II without permission.

Los Blancos’ second string side drew the Segunda Division B clash 1-1, with Vinicus Junior scoring and sent off in the fixture.

Following the away clash, five players, including Zinedine Zindane’s son Luca, flew home instead of taking the team coach.

According to Marca, Zidane, Franchu, Alex Martin, Dani Gomez and Cristo bought the tickets out of their own pocket, choosing to travel with their families over their team-mates.

Travelling home with loved ones is normal for games in, or close to, Madrid but not for away games.

The debacle began in the lead up to Sunday’s clash, when the players’ request to travel to Vigo by air was denied.

The coach ride is six hours from Madrid and the players were not keen on spending that length of time on the road.

After breaking the rules and flying back by themselves, coach Santiago Solari called the entire squad in on Monday morning and reprimanded the five stars, who were also fined.

Vinicus Junior also returned by plane but this was sanctioned prior to the game after he failed to make the senior squad.
