Planning A Hair Transplant On A Budget? Here’s How You Can Keep Your Hair And Your Money

Most people who consider getting a hair transplant don’t entertain the thought for very long.
There are a number of reasons they ultimately decide against getting a hair transplant. For
starters, there’s still something of a stigma associated with hair transplant. Even though major
celebrities such as Wayne Rooney and John Travolta have themselves resorted to hair
transplantation to combat balding, many people still feel like they should be embarrassed for
even considering one themselves. Then there is the difficulty of finding a hair restoration clinic
you can trust. The Western world’s hair restoration industry is still in its infancy. Because of this,
countries like the USA and the UK only have a few reliable clinics. And then, of course, there is
the cost. Hair transplant costs can get pretty high. For this reason, many people suffering from
hair loss resign themselves to balding. However, it is possible to score a hair transplant without
breaking the bank. We’ll tell you how below.

How To Keep Hair Transplant Costs To A Minimum

Research Multiple Procedures
There are a variety of hair transplant procedures available. Also known as “FUE”, follicular unit
extraction sees hair follicles taken from a donor site on the patient’s scalp. These follicles are
then implanted in the receiver site individually. Some clinics offer sapphire FUE, which is very
similar to traditional FUE bar one or two tweaks.

FUE is pretty expensive, with some people paying in excess of $10,000 for the procedure. If you
want to keep costs down, we suggest researching follicular unit transplantation (FUT). FUT is
markedly less expensive than FUE, but has the disadvantage of being far more gruesome. In
FUT, hair-bearing skin is transplanted from the patient’s donor site to their receiver site. It can
be pretty painful, but the results are hard to argue with.
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy is the least expensive method of hair restoration. It requires
platelet-rich plasma to be injected into the patient’s scalp, which some studies suggest
stimulates hair growth. There is some debate as to the effectiveness of PRP therapy, so you
should research the treatment carefully before deciding if you’re willing to trust it. Remember, if
it proves ineffective, you may end up paying for FUT or FUE treatment as well. This will mean
spending more than you have if you had just chosen FUT or FUE to begin with.

Research Multiple Clinics
The chances are, there are multiple hair restoration clinics operating in your country. We
suggest you research each before deciding on which is right for you. There is no universal cost
for hair restoration treatments, so each clinic you study will have its own set of prices. If you find
a clinic that offers the treatment you want at a price you’re willing to pay, be sure to read
reviews from its past clients before booking your appointment. If the reviews are predominantly
negative – or if the clinic has no reviews at all – go somewhere else.

Go Abroad
If you really want to keep costs down, we suggest going abroad for your hair transplant. In
Turkey, a medical tourist can secure a hair transplant for much less than they would pay in their
home country. Even The Vera Clinic – arguably the most renowned hair restoration center in
Turkey – offers FUE and FUT for next to nothing.
You may be skeptical about the quality of Turkey’s hair transplant clinics. However,
even recently published an interview with a medical tourist who traveled to Turkey for a hair
transplant and he had nothing but positive things to say about the experience. We share the
interviewee’s opinion that Turkey is the best option for anybody who doesn’t want to choose
between their money and their hair!
