Trend: Slick Body Creams

As the weather cools and skin gets thirstier, it's time to slather on the latest nourishing body creams and oils. Try applying your favourite body moisturiser before you shower, then give it a second coat when you get out.

Road Test

This week I try … a laser facial

The lowdown I am with the dynamic Melanie Grant, who now has skin temples in Melbourne, Sydney, Paris and Los Angeles, for her Bespoke Laser Facial. In this treatment she uses a combination of laser, IPL (intense pulsed light), radio frequency and soothing LED light to target pigmentation and redness. An additional benefit is an increase in collagen synthesis, which gives skin a firming boost and a more unified tone.

Pain factor I cannot lie, the laser is really ouchy.

Downtime Sixty minutes for the treatment. I was quite red and looked a little swollen for a couple of days after, so I used a tinted moisturiser to disguise the redness.

Results Once my skin settled down, the texture was finer and firmer and the skin tone very even.

Where to get it Melanie Grant Skin Health; melaniegrant.com. Cost: $550.

At homeThe use of AHAs, BHA and retinol should be avoided for 72 hours after treatment to allow the skin to recover. Then you can resume your usual regime, making sure to include a broad-spectrum SPF 50+, of course.

L’Artisan Parfumeur Bana Banana EDP.Credit:Jennifer Soo

L'Artisan Parfumeur Bana Banana EDP (davidjones.com, $209 for 100ml) is a sheer delight. This is an homage to L'Artisan Parfumeur founder Jean Laporte's first fragrance, which was inspired by Paris's Folies Bergère. With its gorgeous blend of nutmeg and violet leaves, jasmine and a hint of candied bananas, this one is a keeper.

Ask Stephanie

What is the most effective scent for getting a good night's sleep?

We love chamomile and lavender for their soothing qualities – either spritz your room or lightly spray your pillow. Try Kora Organics Calming Lavender Mist (adorebeauty.com.au, $40 for 100ml).
