James Haskell enjoyed a night in with infant daughter Bodhi on Saturday evening, just hours after his separation from TV personality wife Chloe Madeley was confirmed.

The former Wasps and England flanker settled down to watch  South Africa narrowly beat New Zealand 12-11 in the Rugby World Cup final, shortly after the former couple issued a joint statement announcing the end of their five-year marriage.

Taking to Instagram, Haskell, 38, shared photos of himself and 14-month old Bodhi – their only child –  settled in front of the television at their family home ahead of the historic match.

Madeley, 36, is understood to be staying with her parents, TV presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, at their London property following the separation.

The retired rugby player later posted a short video of his daughter in her dressing gown as she prepared for bed.

In a joint statement released on Saturday, Haskell and Madeley said they had ‘mutually decided to separate’ and remained focused on co-parenting their daughter.

That same day he shared a photo of his wife as she planted a kiss on Bodhi’s head during a day out.

Other photos showed the tot sat at the table, dressed in a cute Disney sweater and matching joggers.

The couple, who married in 2018, fuelled speculation about their relationship after Madeley emerged without her wedding ring as she partied with friends – shortly after James was pictured chatting to a mystery blonde outside a London nightspot.

Since then, they have both been seen out on several occasions without their rings.

In a joint update shared to Instagram, they announced: ‘Chloe and I mutually decided separate at the end of September, 2023.

‘We had not planned on releasing a statement at this time – certainly not while the television show was airing – but constant speculation about our marriage has, unfortunately, forced our hand.’

She added: ‘Beyond this statement, we will not be speaking about this matter publicly, and we would request privacy at this time.

‘Our sole focus now is our beautiful daughter. We shall continue to co-parent with nothing but love.’

Sharing his own statement to Instagram, Haskell added: ‘It’s with a lot of sadness I write this post, but unfortunately, in the world we live in, it has to be done.

‘My priority is my daughter’s and Chloe’s happiness and security. For that reason, I won’t be commenting any further.’

Chloe and James reunited back home in north London with their daughter Bodhi on Wednesday, after James spent the weekend in Paris for England’s semi-final match against South Africa.

They put on the appearance of a happy family as Haskell took to Instagram on Tuesday to confirm they were both together at home after his trip.

Madeley was seen playing with the little one, while James shared some words of encouragement from behind the camera.

Captioning the post, he wrote: ‘Bodhi keeping the drive bye high-fives tight.’

A source told MailOnline: ‘James Haskell is still living at the family home in London, he arrived back on Monday and was still there yesterday morning.’

Madeley did not reveal the split while promoting her ITV show, Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair but instead talked about their marriage as if they were still together.

One friend of the couple told MailOnline: ‘It is all so weird, and it all seems rather rum that Chloe did a round of interviews and talked very openly about her life and the marriage but she failed to say that she and James had split despite her television show being all about her family life.’

Madeley emerged without her wedding ring as she partied with friends in October – shortly after Haskell was pictured chatting to a mystery blonde outside a London nightspot.

The woman was later revealed to be PR director Martine Bridge, a close friend of the former rugby ace with connections to the upper echelons of London high society.

Days later he was seen without his wedding ring while out with infant daughter Bodhi – the couple’s only child – close to their family home.

In recent scenes from their new reality show he bore the brunt of Madeley’s frustration after jetting to Ibiza for a DJ gig – where he was pictured partying with a troupe of bikini-clad dancers.

Documenting the job on social media, Haskell was surrounded by scantily-clothed women – leaving his wife, who was back in the United Kingdom, less than impressed.

After spotting the pictures, she raged: ‘He’s on Instagram uploading videos and photos of all these girls, and I was like, “I will kill you. I will fly to Ibiza and kill you”.

‘He posted videos of him with loads of girls in thongs ‘cos he thinks that it like makes him look cool on social media. I’m like you’re a k*** and you make me look like a k***. Stop doing it.’

However, she did admit: ‘But he loves it. Honestly, at least he’s having fun. You know what I mean.’
