Emma Heming Willis takes kids to meet Bruce’s wax figure
Emma Hemming Willis admitted that there is a ‘lack of understanding’ when it comes to Frontotenmporal Dementia, the disease that her husband, Bruce Willis, was diagnosed with earlier this year.
Taking to Instagram, she shared a quote from Linde Lee, a FTD advocate who carries the MAPT gene mutation which can cause the disease.
“The rareness (of FTD) comes from the lack of understanding and the lack of discussion, but it is not rare when it is the most common form of dementia.”
Emma added the caption,”I really have nothing else to add here. Except, thank you @lindejlee for being a passionate advocate. I learn so much from you.”
During an appearance on The Today Show earlier this week, Emma spoke about how hard the disease can be, not only on the one diagnosed with the disease, but the entire family.

“Dementia is hard,” she said. “It’s hard on the person diagnosed, it’s also hard on the family. And that is no different for Bruce, or myself, or our girls,” she told Hoda Kotb.
“When they say this is a family disease, it really is,” she continued.
Emma and Bruce have been married since 2009 and share two young daughters, Mabel and Evelyn.
The Die Hard legend also has three adult daughters – Rumer, Scout and Tallulah – from his marriage to Demi Moore.

During the interview on Today, Emma referred to herself as Bruce’s “care partner” rather than his “caretaker.”
She also revealed that Bruce’s diagnosis was teaching their young daughters “love, patience and resilience.”
“It’s teaching them so much and how to care and love, and it’s really a beautiful thing amongst the sadness,” she added.

Bruce’s family originally announced his retirement after he was diagnosed with brain condition aphasia in March 2022.
Then in February 2023, the family made the crushing announcement that he had been diagnosed with FTD, which can cause trouble communicating, difficulty with work, or even with walking.
Emma said it is “hard to know” just how aware the Hollywood legend he is of his degenerative disease.
