- Former House of Commons Speaker will appear alongside Love Island’s Ekin-Su
- Follows in the steps of Matt Hancock by making leap from politics to reality TV
Controversial former Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow has been picked up as a contestant on an all-star version of the hit show The Traitors.
The ex-MP, 60, stood down from his role in 2019 and last year was banned from having a pass to the Houses of Parliament after he was found to have ‘repeatedly and extensively’ bullied staff.
He was also suspended from the Labour Party as a result of the independent investigation after being accused of throwing his mobile and swearing at officials.
His appearance on the show, being filmed in a remote Scottish castle, follows in the steps of Matt Hancock by making the leap from politics to reality TV as a contestant on the show, which will be hosted by Alan Cumming.
Mr Hancock, who is still MP for West Suffolk, appeared on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here in 2022 and is making a return to screens in the celebrity version of SAS: Who Dares Wins on Channel 4.

The US version of the show is different from the UK’s in that it features an all-star cast. Its first series saw a number of reality TV stars and ordinary people competing for a huge cash prize – $250,000 as of series two.
But just like the UK version the American show is filmed at Ardross Castle north of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands.
The British edition is hosted by Claudia Winkleman and has also been renewed for a second series.
Alan Cumming, who is returning as host for the second series, will this time be joined by his dog Lala as a presenting sidekick.
The actor, 58, adopted the Costa Rican pup in New York more than seven years ago after a vet took her off the street because she was pregnant. He also has a rat terrier chihuahua cross called Jerry.
The show will feature 21 celebrity contestants – including boxer Deontay Wilder and stars from shows including Real Housewives and Dancing With the Stars.
They will be competing for a fund of up to $250,000 – which the Faithfuls and Traitors will have to build up through a series of challenges.
Matt Hancock made headlines last year when he went into the jungle to star in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

The news of his role in the show drew a rapid rebuke from Number 10, with Rishi Sunak’s spokesman saying the Prime Minister believes MPs should be ‘working hard for their constituents’ at a ‘challenging time for the country’.
Chief Whip Simon Hart announced he had removed the whip from Mr Hancock – the same fate that befell fellow Tory MP Nadine Dorries when she went on the ITV show in 2012.
