He grew up with one sister and two brothers.
It was during his childhood that his love of music began to form. At the age of 10, he began singing in a local church choir, which fuelled his passion and would go on to propel him to fame.
As a schoolboy, he formed and played the drums in a number of local bands, where he met guitarist David Morris.

He then went on to release what is arguably his greatest hit, Never Gonna Give You Up, in 1987 which topped the charts in the UK for five weeks and became the highest-selling album of the year.
He now lives in Molesey, Surrey with his wife Lene Bausager, with whom he shares a daughter, who now lives in Denmark.
