Since losing his job, my boyfriend has no interest in me | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: I KNOW my partner is stressed and under a lot of pressure.

But it hurt a lot when he told me he was “sick of the sight of me”.

I am 29 and my boyfriend is 34. He was recently suspended from work and, as a result, is falling behind with all the bills.

Since then he’s become distant and isn’t affectionate at all.

Now all we do is argue. We are in one another’s faces all the time. I can’t cope living like this any more.

I just want to feel that I am loved and wanted.

DEIDRE SAYS: No matter what the the reason is, stress can have a negative effect on our relationships.

This includes knocking someone’s sex drive – and especially so when finances are strained.

But burying his head in the sand on all these fronts won’t help him.

Encourage him to talk to you so you can problem-solve together.

I’m sending you my support pack on Family Finances to help.

Couple counselling could benefit you both. See relate.org.uk and tavistockrelationships.org.
