    'Second thoughts' on Auba deal

The Athletic are this morning reporting that Chelsea are having 'second thoughts' over a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Blues have been in discussions with Barcelona for a month over the former Arsenal forward, but talks may now be nearing an end.

An offer of £15m was made by the Premier League club, but it remains some way off from the LaLiga giants' valuation of the 33-year-old.

And contrary to reports earlier in August, Chelsea are yet to agree terms with Aubameyang, meaning the transfer is looking increasingly unlikely.

    Wes: The med's in America

Chelsea have sent Wesley Fofana to the United States to undergo a stringent medical ahead of his £75m switch to Stamford Bridge.

The Leicester centre-back flew out to America on Sunday, having missed the weekend game against the Blues with the transfer between the two imminent.

The young Frenchman has already agreed personal terms on a six-year deal with the Londoners, but the club want 'additional peace of mind' according to The Athletic.

Fofana suffered a serious broken leg and injured ankle ligaments in a pre-season friendly last August that ruled him out for seven months.

    Hudson-Odoi to go it a-loan

Bayer Leverkusen have this morning agreed a loan deal with Chelsea for Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to Sky Sports News.

The 21-year-old winger will move to the BayArena for the season after the two clubs settled on terms regarding the temporary move.

The switch had been in danger of falling through over the weekend when the Blues rejected the Bundesliga club's demand for an option to buy to be structured into the contract.

Hudson-Odoi has yet to feature for Chelsea this season despite being named on the bench for the last three Premier League games.

    Good morning, Chelsea fans

Wesley Fofana underwent a medical with the Blues yesterday ahead of his £75million move from Leicester.

The 21-year-old is set to finally join the club after informing the Foxes of his intention to leave.

He has agreed a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge and will be the second centre-back signing this summer, after Kalidou Koulibaly.

While one defender arrives, another is poised to leave.

Ethan Ampadu will reportedly join Serie A side Spezia on a season-long loan this week, with the Italians also having the option to make the deal permanent for around £12.5m.

Elsewhere the Blues are claimed to be weighing up a late bid for Wilfried Zaha.

While Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Anthony Gordon remain the priorities, the Evening Standard say Zaha is being considered as an alternative.

And finally, sensational reports from Metro claim the Blues have been offered the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo by his agent Jorge Mendes.

The 37-year-old remains desperate to leave Manchester United before deadline day on Thursday.

Chelsea meanwhile are eager to add a striker to their ranks before the transfer window slams shut.

Tuchel is desperate to add an out and out striker in the final days of the transfer window.

    Auba and Gordon before Zaha

Reports earlier today suggested Chelsea were considering a late swoop for Crystal Palace ace Wilfried Zaha.

But the Blues will prioritise deals for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Anthony Gordon first, according to the Evening Standard.

Negotiations with both players are claimed to be ongoing.

And Zaha is viewed as another alternative.

The 29-year-old has just one year remaining on his deal at Selhurst Park.

"I could feel he was not happy because he wants to score more and have more chances.

"We played today in a more aggressive shape but then we were one man down so we needed him to step up, which he did.

"The goals were crucial today because they gave us the belief."

Crystal Palace have reportedly opened talks with Chelsea regarding another loan move for Conor Gallagher.

The 22-year-old shone while spending last season at Selhurst Park.

His form earned him a first senior England cap, and a spot in Thomas Tuchel's plans at Stamford Bridge.

But the Eagles are keen on resigning him and have kicked off talks with the Blues, according to journalist Nicolo Schira.

Gallagher was sent off in just his second ever start for Chelsea during yesterday's 2-1 win over Leicester.

    Chelsea consider late Zaha bid

Reports are coming in that Thomas Tuchel is considering a late bid for Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha.

With the winger only have a year left on this Palace contract, it is becoming apparent to many that they could pick him up on the cheap.

Having previously enquired about the player, Chelsea were told his price was £80m but that has changed due to his contract situation.

    Rom fitness issue for Inter

When Antonio Conte was at Inter Milan, he commented at how unfit and out of shape the striker was when he arrived in Italy from the Premier League.

It now seems that lightening has struck twice.

Lukaku was singled out for his display in their 3-1 defeat against Lazio but things have gone from bad to worse for the Belgian and his club.

Sky Sports Italia journalist Andrea Barzaghi has confirmed that Lukaku has suffered a thigh injury and will undergo further scans today to see the extent of the injury.

It is looking extremely likely that the Belgian striker will miss the Milan derby and could be a doubt for the visit of Bayern Munich in the Champions League also.

    Chelsea make transfer U-turn

Reports are that Chelsea have now decided to hold on to player Trevoh Chalobah despite talks over possible transfer moves to the likes of AC Milan, Inter Milan and RB Leipzig.

Chalobah has had some good performances under Thomas Tuchel this season with the German coach wanting to keep the player in the squad for the rest of the season.

His place was brought into question by the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly and the potential signing of Wesley Fofana in recent weeks.

Xavi confident of holding onto pair

It seems to be the way in football now that the telling sign of a player's imminent departure is for him to be left out of the matchday squad when there are no injury concerns at all.

The club usually lament the player's head not being right amid transfer speculation but in the days or weeks that pass, that player tends to move on to pastures new.

On that basis, Xavi's inclusion of both Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the squad for their game against Real Valladolid speaks volumes.

Reports from Camp Nou state that the club feel their talks to renegotiate de Jong's contract are going well that the Catalan club feel they will hold on to their players past Thursday's transfer deadline.

    Blues set sights on Gordon

Chelsea have reportedly made a new offer for Everton winger Anthony Gordon with transfer deadline day fast approaching.

Reports suggest that the new offer is money plus two players with The Blues offering £25m plus Armando Broja and Conor Gallagher.

Chelsea value both players at £30m meaning the total deal would be worth in the region of £85m.

The fact that Frank Lampard would have little time to replace the player may mean that the inclusion of two players appeals to The Toffees far more.

    Chelsea lead midfielder race

Reports suggest that Liverpool have ignited their interest in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

While no conversations have taken place between the two clubs, it is suggested that the big stumbling block is the player's wages.

The Anfield outfit have a very strict wage structure in place at the club which made it difficult to give Mohamed Salah the contract extension he wanted.

As a result, it is reported that Chelsea still lead the race for de Jong and will look to try and tie up a deal before the transfer window closes.

Should the transfer happen, it could result in Conor Gallagher leaving Stamford Bridge as his game time would be far more restricted.

    Romelu's cloak of invisibility

On loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has been heavily criticised in the Italian press for the role he played in Inter Milan's 3-1 defeat to Lazio.

The Belgian received very poor scores in the player ratings after the match, with his inability to really get himself into the game noted by all media outlets.

The 29-year-old was neither able to get a sniff of goal himself, nor was he able to link up with his teammates or help the team get up the pitch and find a foothold in the match over a sustained period.
