WhatsApp may be working on smart glasses for texting without typing

WhatsApp appears to be embracing the future by reportedly working on a high-tech messaging system which would see people dictate messages to a pair of specs.

The new feature would allow users to send messages to family and friends without having to type them out by simply speaking them out loud to smart glasses instead.

It was noted by mobile software XDA Developers, who found references to the feature hidden in the code of the WhatsApp beta and is linked to the Ray-Ban Stories, which are smart glasses created by WhatsApp-owner Facebook.

Here's what you need to know about the potential smart glasses texting feature from WhatsApp.

What are Ray-Ban Stories?

Ray-Ban Stories is a collaboration between EssilorLuxottica and Ray-Ban, launched in 2021.

With built-in cameras and three microphones, the smart glasses allow you to capture both photos and videos as well as answer phone calls.
