Piers Morgan slams GMB's Alex Beresford branding him 'the stand-in weather guy'

PIERS Morgan has reignited his feud with Good Morning Britain's Alex Beresford in a new interview.

The 56-year-old star dismissed him as "not even the full-time" weather presenter on the show.

Piers and Alex clashed live on the air the day the host quit the ITV morning show after refusing to apologise for saying he didn't believe Meghan Markle.

Speaking to the Mail, he said: "I thought it got too personal. Alex is the stand-in weather guy. He is not even the full-time guy.

"He is a guy I have helped a lot in his career, given him help and advice. And I just thought, I am not going to take this very personal take-down from him, from one of my own team."

The Sun exclusively revealed last night that Good Morning Britain bosses have asked Piers to return to the show.

It's a move that could put him on a collision course with Alex should they both be on air at the same time.

Piers told us: “I honestly think us overtaking the BBC on my final day is one of the proudest things I have ever done. It was something nobody ever thought possible.

“I would seriously consider [going back to GMB] if I could rip it all up, and do it my way. If I could produce it as well as present.

“I always felt slightly hamstrung there; they never let me have the team I wanted to have. "
