Following the success of Sundance-winning “Coda,” Patrick Wachsberger’s Picture Perfect Federation is reteaming with up-and-coming writer-helmer Siân Heder on her next directorial outing, “Impossible.” Picture Perfect Federation is developing the contemporary romantic comedy with Black Label Media.
“Impossible” is based on a novel of the same title written by Sarah Lotz, and is being produced by Wachsberger and Ashley Stern via Picture Perfect Federation; Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill via Black Label Media; and Sherry Marsh via Marsh Entertainment.
“Impossible” tells the story of Nick, a ghostwriter who is a disappointment to himself and his soon-to-be ex-wife, and Bee, a commitment-phobe content on repurposing wedding dresses rather than finding a reason to wear one herself. The two are meant to be together, but fate has other plans.
“I am pleased to once again work with the incredibly talented Siân Heder, one of the world’s most promising writer/directors,” Wachsberger said. “Along with Ashley, we look forward to developing and producing a romantic comedy for our time with Molly, Trent, and Thad of Black Label as well as Sherry on board to produce.”
Black Label Media, which previously worked with Wachsberger on “Sicario” and “La La Land,” said in a joint statement, “‘Impossible’ is an incredible novel and we are thrilled to be working with the wonderfully talented Sian Heder on the adaptation.”
Heder said “Impossible” “takes an inventive and surprising look at the choices we make and how they have a butterfly effect in shaping who we are.” She described it as a “funny, captivating novel.”
Heder last directed “Coda,” which Wachsberger produced with Philippe Rousselet, Fabrice Gianfermi and Jérôme Seydoux. The movie was acquired by Apple in a record-breaking sale. The filmmaker previously directed “Tallulah” starring Elliot Page and Allison Janney, which premiered at Sundance in 2016 and was acquired by Netflix. Heder’s credits include Apple’s “Little America” and Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black.”
Picture Perfect Federation has several high-profile series and films in the pipeline, including “The Banker’s Wife” for Amazon with Lesli Linka Glatter directing and Meredith Stiehm showrunning; and the Ramses book series from famed Egyptologist Christian Jacq with Anonymous Content.
