A MUM has saved £10,000 by refusing to buy new clothes for a decade.
Teacher Anna Kilpatrick, 47, roots through charity shops and swaps old clothes online to help the environment.
And Anna, who used to spend £75 a month on new togs, often bags designer gear for a fraction of their new price.
It comes after Swedish environmental campaigner Greta Thunberg vowed never to buy new clothes again in an interview to mark her 18th birthday last week.
The mum of two, of Forest Row, East Sussex, said: “If anyone criticises me for being jumble sale chic or a charity shop queen, I will wear that badge happily.
“It’s something to be proud of now — disposable clothing is utterly unsustainable.”
And she added: “It’s horrendous that we simply throw away clothes that took so much energy to make after just a few wears.
“I have got a much more exciting, far better quality wardrobe than I used to have because I can afford charity shop prices for much nicer things.
“I think more and more people will start doing this. I feel like I need to give other women the message.”
