Nike's New Eco-Friendly Air Max 90 Is Transformed Using Recycled Wool

The newest Air Max 90 is Nike’s latest attempt at designing and producing with sustainability in mind. Different from the Space Hippie which utilizes a Flyknit yarn that’s composed of 85 – 90 percent recycled materials, this Air Max 90 M2Z2 takes another eco-friendly approach by incorporating recycled materials to mainstay models.

The upcoming Air Max 90 has a primarily black color scheme and is dressed in recycled wool-like textures along the tongue, Swoosh, and heel, perfect for the cold winter weather. The material is heavily made up of upcycled waste products, including the black textile upper with leather overlays and hints of Electric Green on its translucent eyelets. A Light Bone midsole runs along the base of the shoe and is completed with the unique speckled outsole created by Grind rubber, signature to the brand’s efforts in sustainability.

The pair is expected to appear in retailers and online at
