A Berlin court has overturned an order forcing bars and restaurants to close from 11pm to 6am amid the pandemic.
The court ruled that new cases of coronavirus are more likely to stem from private gatherings of families and friendship groups, meat-processing plants, religious gatherings or community facilities.
It therefore ruled that the impact of closing bars and restaurants was ‘not apparent’ on the spread of the virus.
The case was brought forward by 11 restaurant owners who did not agree with the curfew, which was introduced Wednesday.

Berlin is considered to be a hotspot in Germany, with more than 78 coronavirus cases per 100,000 people on average and 161 cases per 100,000 in some districts.
