The pain may feel like a deep, penetrating ache, and it can be very unpleasant.

Vitamin D is used to keep your bones healthy and strong.

So, without enough vitamin D in your diet, it’s only natural that your bones will be one of the first parts of your body to suffer.

But, a number of people may not develop noticeable symptoms, and they’d often go unnoticed.

You should consider adding more vitamin D to your diet if you develop bone pain, according to medical website WebMD.

“Symptoms of bone pain and muscle weakness can mean you have a vitamin D deficiency.

“However, for many people, the symptoms are subtle.

“Yet, even without symptoms, too little vitamin D can pose health risks.”

A vitamin D deficiency could increase your chances of developing cardiovascular disease, asthma in children, or even some cancers.

The vitamin could even help to protect against diabetes, high blood pressure, and multiple sclerosis, it said.

Those most at risk of a vitamin D deficiency are the elderly, people that are overweight, and those that rarely venture outside.

Everyone should aim for between 8.5 and 10mcg of vitamin D in a single day, said the NHS.

But during the winter months, the sun isn’t strong enough for your body to make vitamin D.

It’s therefore recommended that everyone takes vitamin D supplements during these months to increase the amount in their diet.

A 10mcg supplement should be enough to help you avoid vitamin D deficiency symptoms.

The government has also advised the public to take vitamin D supplements during the coronavirus lockdown.
