Love Island villa ‘under quarantine’ as crew members ‘struck with violent bug’

The Love Island villa is reportedly consumed by chaos after being put under quarantine.

It's said that a number of crew members have been struck down by norovirus and are suffering from the violent vomiting bug, which can be spread by kissing.

Producers of the hit ITV2 dating show are on high alert, reports The Sun .

An insider told the publication: "If the virus reaches the contestants then it could bring the show to a halt for three or four days.

"Nobody is going to watch them throwing up or having the s***s."

Many workers on the show, including hairstylists, are reported to be suffering from stomach cramps which later turned into serious sickness which was so bad they had to remain "within seconds of a toilet" at all times.

It's said that medical experts are trying to find out where the virus originated, and until everyone has recovered, they've been ordered to remain in their hotel rooms.

It's thought that producers may hire a local crew to help run the show until everyone is recovered, and sanitation points and hand wash areas have been installed around the villa in a bid to prevent it from spreading any further.

It's also said that crew members have been forbidden from shaking hands or kissing, and that they've all been issued with medical packs.

The source added: "Everything is being done to quarantine the villa from the outside world so that bug doesn’t get in.

"There was a similar crisis in Season One so people know what to do."

This is the second bout of drama to hit the villa in its first few days.

Contestant Ollie Williams was met by a campaign of hatred after pictures of him posing with dead animals he had supposedly hunted and killed emerged online.

He has since left the villa, telling his fellow Islanders that he'd realised he was still in love with his ex-girlfriend.

Some conspiracy theorists believe the real reason he left was the hunting backlash and that it's been covered up, but bosses insist Ollie wasn't aware of the reports about him and chose to leave himself for the reasons he stated.

Mirror Online has contacted Love Island for comment.
