Darcey Silva and her British boyfriend Tom Brooks might have had a messy breakup after they appeared on TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. But their heartbreak hasn’t appeared to stop either Darcey or Tom from capitalizing on their reality TV fame.
Since his breakup from Darcey, Tom has been spending time in the United States and seemingly living the high life. The 90 Day Fiancé star recently shared an Instagram post that seemed to take aim at social media critics who accuse him of attention-seeking behavior and fakery.
Tom is traveling the U.S. for various opportunities
Tom and Darcey broke up shortly after their season of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days wrapped. Both accused the other of cheating, and Tom even buddied up with Darcey’s Dutch ex Jesse Meester afterward.
Since the breakup, Tom has been partnering with various brands and hosting events across the United States. He shared on Instagram that he’s working with Towbin Motorcars in Las Vegas and even showed off his days of shopping at Versace and other luxury stores. Darcey’s ex has also hosted meet and greets at the Hotel Chantelle in New York City and other venues along the East Coast.
Darcey has been enjoying her share of star-studded events and brand partnerships as well. The 90 Day Fiancé star recently moved to Los Angeles from her home state of Connecticut to pursue work opportunities. She even appeared in a Hulu commercial alongside Chrissy Teigen, The Bachelor host Chris Harrison, and her 90 Day Fiancé castmates Loren and Alexei Brovarnik.
The ’90 Day Fiance’ star opened up on Instagram about ‘jealousy’ and ‘hate’
Darcey’s ex-boyfriend pushed back against social media critics in a Dec. 13 Instagram post. Tom shared a quote from personal development and business blogger/speaker Israelmore Ayivor that seemed to indicate he’s hoping for a bit of fame and fortune as a result of his time on 90 Day Fiancé.
“People who hate you because of a mere jealousy over your success hurt themselves in disguise,” read the post in part. “Anytime you try to do something great with your life, there are always going to be others trying to bring you down.”
The former 90 Day Fiancé star‘s post continued, “Maybe you’ve got a shot at celebrity, and your name is finally starting to get out there, but the bad reviews are pouring in, and the critics are shouting at you…No matter what form hate takes, it is always hard to deal with.”
Fans had mixed reactions to Tom’s post
Some 90 Day Fiancé fans offered support for Tom. One commenter wrote reassuringly, “It’s just jealousy take no notice.” Another agreed, writing: “Don’t respond to the hate. Just continue to achieve the goals you set for yourself. Don’t allow them to make your life about them and their issues.”
But others didn’t have such a positive reaction. Many commenters thought Tom was milking his reality TV fame for all it was worth. One critic wrote, “What do you want to be famous for Tom? What is your talent besides a handsome face? A lot of men are handsome…. so what !?”
The 90 Day Fiancé star clapped back, “Why are you so interested in what I do? Just enjoying the ride it will be over soon but at least I did it.”
“Lord you are milking those 5 mins,” another critic wrote in the comments. But Tom defended himself again, replying, “I lived my life like this before I did the show and have continued to do so after.”
