Teen suspects in Canada murders possibly spotted 2,000 miles away

Two teens wanted in connection with three British Columbia homicides were allegedly spotted more than 2,000 miles away in Ontario, according to a new report.

Authorities in northeastern Ontario received reports of two possible sightings — one near Iron Bridge and another near Kapuskasing, Ontario Provincial Police Constable Michelle Coulombe told the CBC. Neither of those sightings have been officially confirmed, she said.

The Kapuskasing sighting happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, when someone spotted a suspicious white vehicle driven through a construction zone on Highway 11.

“There [were] two occupants in the vehicle who had similar descriptions to the suspects who are wanted in the B.C. murders,” Coulombe told the outlet.

“The only witness to that was the flag-person,” she added. “All our frontline members and resources conducted a search of that area with negative results.”

The vehicle was last seen heading east — and no plate was provided to authorities, Coulombe said.

“We are not able to confirm at this time if that was them,” she said.

No further details were provided on the Iron Bridge sighting, but Coulombe said “we did do a search and were unable to locate them.”

As the manhunt continues, the constable urged anyone who sees the pair to not approach them and immediately contact police.

Bryer Schmegelsky and pal Kam McLeod, 19, are wanted for the slayings of tourist couple Chynna Deese, 24, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and her boyfriend, Lucas Fowler, 23, of Sydney, Australia.

They’ve already been charged with second-degree murder in absentia in connection with the death of Leonard Dyck, 64, of Vancouver.
