Instagram stars are losing THOUSANDS of followers with no ‘like count’

EXCLUSIVE: How Australian reality stars and Influencers are now losing THOUSANDS of followers a day as Instagram’s removal of the ‘like count’ destroys careers in less than a week

It’s been five days since Instagram removed the ‘like count’ from Australian users.

And the controversial move is already having an unprecedented effect on reality stars and influencers, who are losing thousands of followers a day.

With sponsorships and endorsements determined by engagement levels, number of ‘likes’ and follower counts, the change already appears to be destroying careers.

If fickle followers and audiences continue to abandon them at this alarming rate, deals could soon dry up for ‘influencers’ who may need to find day jobs.

According to analytics website Social Blade, Married At First Sight star Elizabeth Sobinoff’s page appears to be suffering the most.

Although she has been praised for her inspiring posts about female empowerment, 683 people clicked to unfollow her on Monday, with 182 the day before.

She managed to gain 113 fans on Saturday, but overall she has lost almost 1,000 of her previous 207,000 followers since the change was introduced.

What’s going on? Although Elizabeth is hugely popular, 683 people unfollowed her on Monday  after Instagram introduced the change on July 18

Likewise, Elizabeth’s co-star Cyrell Paule also appears to be losing followers fast.

She managed to gain 277 fans on Friday, but has lost a total of 1,241 since July 14, with Instagram’s change not helping her already fleeing followers.

Interestingly, controversial stars, such as Ines Basic, are gaining more followers than they’re losing, suggesting they are reaching people who did not watch MAFS.

Similar to Cyrell, Bachelor In Paradise stars Alexandra Nation and Keira Maguire have both seen substantial drops in their followers, Social Blade calculates.

Despite their numbers already declining before Instagram’s change last week, the lack of the popular ‘like count’ has not helped them maintain an audience.

Stars from Love Island Australia are also taking a hit too, with data showing Teddy Briggs’ audience shrinking by the day.

Leaving: Despite Keira already seeing her numbers declining before Instagram’s change last week, the data shows that the lack of the ‘like count’ has not helped maintain her audience

Going down: Bachelor star Alex Nation (pictured) is another star seeing her numbers drop, according to the data by Social Blade

According to the data, former Bachelorette Ali Oetjen is another reality star turned influencer appearing to lose more followers.

However, the blonde has proved she is still capable of earning an income through the app, recently selling out her first wellness retreat in Melbourne to fans.

Although the recent change to Instagram will not have helped the personalities see their potential as influencers diminish so quickly, there is another reason behind it.

One likely explanation is that less-invested viewers of their respective shows click to follow the stars when the program is airing amid the fanfare and excitement.

Then, as months pass and hype dies down, they click to unfollow while possibly growing tired of seeing constant endorsements every day.
