Dad charged with battering his six-week-old baby son who ‘fought his horrific injuries until his dying breath’ – The Sun

A DAD was today accused of killing his baby son – who fought his horrific injuries "until his dying breath".

Michael Ashley MacRae appeared at the Supreme Court of Western Australia, charged with murdering his boy Nathaniel.

The infant was just six weeks old when he was rushed to Narrogin Hospital in October 2017.

He suffered bleeding to his brain and was left blind after an alleged bashing.

Nathaniel died a year later – and his mum Erica-Leigh Lawrence told ABC that her boy was a "fighter who continued to fight until his last breath".

MacRae, 25, was originally charged with grievous bodily harm but his charges were upgraded following a police probe.

His bail was revoked during his court appearance and he's been remanded in custody.

His lawyer, Edward Fitzpatrick, said his client would be making a bail application at his next court appearance in August.

A provisional trial date has been set for April next year.
