Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has been pushing the ‘Services’ department of the $1 Trillion company since 2014, which began when they bought Dr Dre’s & Jimmy Iovine’s ‘Beats’ business for over $2 Billion.
Another aspect will be Apple News.
Since acquiring ‘Texture’, a magazine-subscription service, all eyes have been on whether these two offerings would merge, and it seems like this will be the case tomorrow. A service, much like ‘Readly’, you can sign up and you will be able to subscribe to newspapers and magazines for a price.
This will also be baked into the latest iOS 12.2 update, which will bring about updated versions of the aforementioned apps, but another question will be, whether it will be available just for USA for now, or the UK as well. Time will tell.
What about Hardware?
A new iPad Mini and iPad Air were announced last week, alongside new AirPods which now have ‘Hey Siri’ built in, and the only glaring omission seems to be AirPower.
This is a mat that was announced alongside the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X models back in 2017, but it hasn’t been heard of since.
Apple now offers a ‘Wireless Charging Case’ for the AirPods, so you can use a QI mat to now charge them. To have ‘AirPower’ return to help with this, would be a great offering at the event.
