X Factor fans in hysterics as Robbie Williams and Ayda Field mock Simon Cowell's 'face lifts' and 'tight shirts'

The former Take That singer released Nile Rodgers from his temporary judging duties and entertained viewers with cocky remarks – as his wife Ayda Field joined in.

Ayda, 39, ribbed the Syco boss over the fact he refused Danny Tetley a place on Pop Idol in 2001.

And after a flashback clip aired showing Simon 17 years ago on the talent show, Robbie, 44, said: "With the VT footage, it was nice to see Simon four faces ago. It was incredible."

Simon, 59, looked annoyed and sniped back: "Oh I miss Nile (Rodgers)."

Later, Ayda made fans laugh again when she turned to Simon and said: "There's no wriggle room like Simon's shirt.

People at home loved the banter as one said: "'It was nice to see Simon four faces ago'… I'm HOWLING."

While another added: "'It was nice to see Simon four faces ago'. Oh my God Robbie, creased."

As another fan quipped: "Oh I've missed Robbie these last couple of weeks."

Simon has openly discussed his love of facial enhancements including Botox in the past.

He even admitted to having had "a little too much" in his fight to tackle sagging skin.

Earlier this year, he revealed he splashed out £2,000 on a "21st century facelift."

Later, he told The Sun on Sunday: "For me now, it’s all about having clean skin.

"If you have clean skin, you look better.

"But you have to be very careful with some of this stuff.”

He added: “There’s lots of things you can do now. You don’t just have to stuff your face with filler and Botox.

“(Face lift) hurts like hell but it gets rid of sun damage and unplugs all the crap."
