Strictly’s Danny John-Jules attacked bin men 'with samurai sword' for not emptying his recycling

The 58-year-old, who was yesterday given a final warning by show bosses for "bullying" partner Amy Dowden, launched the vicious bin-rage attack in 2008.

Danny hit the roof when refuse workers in Kensal Rise, North London, refused to take his green bin because it contained non-recyclable polystyrene.

A court heard how, wearing just a lime dressing gown and his wife's slippers, the furious star pursued the men before punching and kicking them to the floor.

One neighbour said at the time: "I saw him out in the street shouting at the binmen and waving what looked like a samurai sword around.

"He was really screaming and yelling. Next I saw the binmen sitting in the back of an ambulance looking shocked and upset."

A judge at Brent Magistrates Court heard how Danny swore and spat at father-and-son bin collectors Jan and Jaroslaw Lisiecki before the brutal attack.

The court was told how Danny kicked both the bin and Jaroslaw's leg, then punched his son and spat in his face.

When Jan was punched he cracked his head as he fell against the metal handles of the truck.

Danny was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm following the incident, which took place outside his family home.

Describing the attack in court, Jaroslaw said: "He kept saying: 'You need to take this bin away.' He got more upset. He spat at me in my face."

Danny denied assault but was found guilty of the attack and was ordered to do 120 hours of community service and pay £350 costs and £75 compensation to each man.

However, outside court he said he would "sleep well tonight" adding: "There is nothing like a clear conscience."

The Sun told yesterday how the star has been given a final warning by Strictly bosses over his treatment of dance partner Amy, who's been left in tears during training.

Sources say he told the 27-year-old: "I'm the star, not you" and "swears and shouts at Amy a lot".

They added: “He also makes a lot of snide comments about him being famous and her not.

“Things have been bubbling away for a while and it all came to a head on Wednesday.”

The insider added: “Amy is so patient and sweet. It’s her dream being on the show. Quite frankly, everyone on Strictly wants Danny to go.”

The Red Dwarf star laughed off the bullying row this morning by posting a picture of movie ape King Kong with a helpless girl in its grip, writing: "My new CV."

Bookies Paddy Power slashed their odds of Danny winning Strictly in the wake of the row, saying his chances of elimination the weekend were now three times more likely.
