He charged towards the players and appeared to be making a beeline for Cristiano Ronaldo.
There was no hint of danger towards the footballers, and simply appeared to be a fan who wanted to get a closer look at one of his idols.
However, the supporter slipped over just as he approached the players.
And he was quickly tackled by security, which resulted in a roar of approval from the Old Trafford faithful.
But the mood was soured when a scuffle between home fans broke out near the press box.
An eye-witness wrote: “Now a fight has broken out in the United fans’ section just by the press box.
“Seems some stewards are escorting some fans out but still going.”
United went into the break trailing 1-0 thanks to a strike from Paulo Dybala.
