Girlfriend, 21, who stabbed boyfriend, 39, to death after he stripped off and got in hot tub with girls guilty of manslaughter

Demi Harris, 21, repeatedly muttered "what have I done?" as 39-year-old boyfriend Christopher Pearson lay dying at his home in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire.

She had seen her boyfriend in his boxers about to climb into the hot tub before she shouted from the window: "Are you actually getting naked whilst other girls are there?"

Harris confronted him and told him "don't you dare" before pouring a bottle of solvent cleaner into the hot tub.

She was later discovered by another woman saying "What have I done? What have I done?" Christopher lay on the ground slipping in and out of consciousness.

Harris, who had denied murder, was today found guilty of manslaughter following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

Jurors heard how Christopher was one of three men with a group of women – one stripped down to her underwear – in the tub at a party in February this year.

He had "humiliated" Harris by pulling her into the hot tub fully clothed and branded her "boring" and "embarrassing".

After she cut power to the tub and turned the music off, Christopher followed her inside the house where he was stabbed.

Prosecutor Michael Auty QC said: "Miss Harris then volunteered, 'I've gone too far this time.

"In those few words she encapsulates the prosecution case. He began to slip in and out of consciousness and it was plain that he was fading fast.

"Asked what happened, Miss Harris replied, 'I've stabbed him, but I had to, I had to."

She claimed she had got a knife from the top drawer because Christopher had "attacked" her.

The killer said she ran upstairs but he caught hold of her ankle and violently pushed her into their bedroom where she fell against the bedside cabinet.

Harris then repeated "he's going to die, he's going to die" before being arrested as she walked to her mum's home.

She told police: "I just wanted to get past him and if that meant him grabbing me and me jabbing him with it, just a jab, not a stab, not a puncture; just a quick prick, so it shocks him to move out of the way, so I've got enough time to get down the stairs."

Christopher was rushed to hospital with two stab wounds to his stomach but he died while having an emergency operation.

She will be sentenced on December 7.
