Strictly Come Dancing's Susannah Constantine admits she wanted to slap Craig Revel Horwood after harsh comments

Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Susannah Constantine has admitted she wanted to “slap” Craig Revel Horwood after his harsh comments.

The fashion expert became the first contestant of this year’s series to get the boot last weekend, earning just a 12 from the judges, though she’s declared that Craig’s comparison of her to a drunk person was a bit too much.

“I wanted to slap him,” Susannah told Daily Mail‘s Weekend magazine. “Afterwards I went up to him – yes to literally slap him – but he was so nice to me that I couldn’t.

“He said, ‘Darling, I’ve done you a favour, because the only way is up’, and he gave me a few pointers about how I could improve for the next dance.”

However, she was less complimentary about fellow judge Bruno Tonioli, adding: “Bruno is just white noise. It’s just words from him. You sort of have to put in virtual earplugs.”

Speaking of her exit, Susannah admitted it was “horrible”, recalling: “I went into it thinking, like everyone does, ‘As long as I’m not first out’, and then I was in the dance-off.

“I said to Anton [Du Beke], ‘It is going to be us’, and he said, ‘You don’t know that’, but I did, although I did pray that his popularity might save us. It was right that we went. I was the worst dancer there, and if I’d stayed in, one of the others would have been robbed of their place.”

Earlier this week, Susannah blasted “bollocks” reports regarding claims over her backstage behaviour following her elimination.

Strictly Come Dancing continues with Movie Week tonight (October 6) at 6.30pm on BBC One, with the results show airing tomorrow (October 7) at 7.45pm – right after the new episode of Doctor Who.
