Jennifer Meyer: How Ex-Husband Tobey Maguire and I Coparent So Well

No acrimony here! Jennifer Meyer considers ex-husband Tobey Maguire her best friend, and she has advice to share for any other former couples facing the challenge of coparenting.

“Remember that you love your kids equally more than anything in the world and that you want the best for them,” the 41-year-old exclusively told Us Weekly at the Caruso’s Palisades Village Opening Gala in Pacific Palisades, California. “And if they see parents that don’t get along or fight, then they’re going to be unhappy, and nobody wants unhappy children.”

Meyer also cherishes each moment with their children, 11-year-old daughter Rudy and 9-year-old son Otis. “Oh, my God,” she raved to Us at the Thursday, September 20, event. “Anywhere with them makes me happy. Give me a good Saturday night on the couch with them and a movie, and I’m thrilled.”

Meyer and the Spider-Man actor, 43, announced the end to their nine-year marriage in October 2016. “As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship,” they said in a joint statement to Us Weekly at the time, with a source telling Us there was “no drama” and the decision was “not sudden.”

The jewelry designer also opened up about her post-divorce relationship with Maguire earlier this year. “He’s my best friend,” she told Us in January. “He’s the greatest ex-husband a girl could ever have.”

Meyer’s other A-list pals include Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Jennifer Aniston, whom Meyer described as the “ultimate friend” at the gala on Thursday.

But does the Los Angeles native have anyone in her life who’s more than a friend? She’s keeping mum on the topic. “You know what? Life is wonderful and great,” Meyer told Us. “And I couldn’t be happier, luckier, feel better right now.”
