A girl aged just 15 and a woman were shot and wounded in what police believe was a "targeted attack".
Police and paramedics raced to the scene after shots were fired in Frodesley Road in Birmingham at around 9.40pm on Thursday.
The teenager and the 36-year-old woman were both transported to hospital, where they were still being treated for minor injuries on Friday.
Police sealed off the road as they investigated and spoke to potential eyewitnesses at the scene, Birmingham Live reports.
Officers have appealed for information from the public.
No-one has been arrested.
A statement from West Midlands Police read: "Two people have been taken to hospital with gunshot wounds after reports of a firearm discharge in Sheldon, Birmingham last night (13 September).
"The incident took place at around 9.40pm on Frodesley Road.

"A woman aged 36 and a teenager aged 15 are in hospital with minor injuries.
