Celebrity Big Brother‘s new ‘Public Eye’ task is certainly divisive, but Hardeep Singh Kohli’s “roast” session goes down like a lead balloon with housemates in tonight’s (August 26) episode.
As part of a task designed to impress ‘the public eye’ (viewers at home), Hardeep is asked to perform a comedy roast of the CBB gang.
Most of the housemates take it all in jest, but actress Roxanne Pallett isn’t impressed when Hardeep attacks her personal life.
Imitating her, the Scottish comedian calls Roxanne’s fiance “imaginary” and pretends to break up with him.
“Oooh, where’s my husband? My imaginary husband? Who I like, but not in that way,” he says.
“Lee, if you’re watching Lee, just friends Lee.”
Afterwards, when Hardeep approaches to apologise to the housemates, he says, “I’m really sorry,” but Roxanne is having none of it.
“That wasn’t funny,” she reprimands, before telling Hardeep he should “pick actual jokes”.
“Did you have to bring my fiance into it?,” she goes on, claiming that he had “implied something” cruel.
“You talk about your fiance a lot,” replies Kohli and argues that he was “asked to roast people… about substantial things.”
Roxanne continues to disagree, claiming she “can take a roast” but “can’t take her personal life being messed with”.
Hardeep then exits the task area, while Roxanne implores the others to “roast my height, my accent, my singing. Don’t roast my fiance or my fucking future.”
Also in tonight’s ep, Hardeep clashes with ex-Corrie star Ryan Thomas over a Disgusting Dinner Party task featuring such delicacies as old eggs, tripe and rancid milk.
Ryan — who recently starred in Aussie soap Neighbours — argues viewers enjoy the gross-out flavour of the task, but Hardeep can’t “understand it.”
“Do you think viewers are entertained by watching people trying not to throw up?” he says.
“I don’t understand what the world gains from that, but it’s the way which you still know if it’s a circus – ban the circuses.”
Thomas tries to explain that it isn’t, “about having a nice dinner, it’s about a task that’s hard work that everyone’s supposed to you know… suffer.”
However, Hardeep snaps back: “It’s just f**king immoral, it’s wrong.”
Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight (August 26) at 9pm on Channel 5.
