Groves, 30, dislocated the joint in the semi-final win over Chris Eubank Jr in February and feared for his career due to the severity of the agonising injury.
But surgery was a success and the Saint is ready to defend his WBA super-middleweight title on September 28 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Groves said: “The shoulder is very good, it needed a lot of work but is better than ever now.
“The shoulder going in the last round was a spanner in the works but it made for a lively ending. It gave Chris his only chance at winning it but he didn’t take it.
“I am not a surgeon but I got a very good one and he told me it is back, it is bulletproof, it is reinforced and it should never happen again."
Smith, 28, is the current star of the proud Liverpool fighting family and he admitted revenge for Groves’ win over his big brother Paul would be nice.
The Hammersmith ace beat Callum’s older sibling in 2011 and, although he is focused on his own world title challenge, he cannot help admit vengeance would be sweet.
'NO SWAG' Fury must be motivated by money, says Hearn
Smith said: “I am in a good place, feeling good, finally here for my world title fight.
“The fight with George has been talked about for a long time and I finally have my chance.
“I do have to step up, it is a world title fight, I expect the toughest fight of my career.
“For me it’s not about revenge, that was a long time ago and me and Paul are totally different fighters with different styles.
“His win over Paul has no relevance, it would be nice to get revenge but this fight is about my journey and my goal and my career, which is to be world champion.”
