Emmerdale’s Debbie Dingle fears her daughter Sarah will die after an emotional cliffhanger

Tonight’s (August 13) Emmerdale saw an emotional cliffhanger as Sarah Sugden revealed that she no longer wants to go through with the heart transplant.

After the huge twist last week when it was discovered that the heart Sarah was due to have transplanted wasn’t compatible, Faith starts talking about how badly things could have gone, saying that the operation was just going to be a waste of time. And with Faith having absolutely no indoor voice, Sarah obviously overhears her.

In emotional scenes, Debbie is shocked to hear that Sarah no longer wants to go through with the procedure, and that they should just enjoy the time they have left.

Will Debbie realise that Sarah has heard what Faith has said? Or will she stand by her decision? Keep tuning in throughout the week to see it unfold.

What we do know is that Faith is left devastated by Sarah’s decision, with actress Sally Dexter saying her character Faith feels “hugely responsible”.

“I think she would do anything to help Sarah so she really feels that, even though she didn’t mean to, she’s really put her foot in it this time,” she explained. “If they can’t change Sarah’s mind, I don’t think Faith could ever forgive herself and I don’t think Debbie would either.

Sarah has been in hospital since June, following a collapse. She was told she was suffering from a heart failure that came about as a side-effect of her chemotherapy.

We don’t know how the storyline will ultimately end yet, but viewers have speculated that it will be Ross Barton’s heart that gets used in the transplant, writing him out and allowing Sarah to live.

What do you think? Worth going to the bookies for, or not?

Emmerdale continues tomorrow night (August 14) at 7pm on ITV.
