Chelsea want Man Utd star Anthony Martial… could they use Willian as bait to tempt Jose Mourinho into January deal

The Red Devils recently activated a year-long extension clause in Martial's current deal after the French winger rejected the club's latest offer of a new long-term contract.

United are now preparing a mega five-year deal for the in-form forward that would be worth a staggering £45million including bonuses.

But, Sky Sports understands an agreement remains far from being reached and Chelsea are very keen on the player if they can axe one of their one stars in January.

Martial recently turned down £160,000-a-week but has no intentions of quitting the Red Devils and wants to stay after becoming settled in Manchester.

Despite falling out of favour with boss Jose Mourinho last season, talks over a new deal have been ongoing since the summer and have since become more pressing with Martial's stunning form.

Chelsea first rumoured a stunning swap deal with Manchester United over Martial with Willian going the other way in July.

Willian has revealed his ambition to work under his former Chelsea boss again and Jose Mourinho is a long-term admirer of the Brazilian.

He said: "Mourinho is the best manager I've ever worked with. We have a good relationship, we are friends.

"Sometimes we talk, we text, we send messages to each other via WhatsApp. He is a great manager, I really enjoyed working with him. I hope I can work with him again someday."

Meanwhile, Martial has also been eyed by Juventus, who are looking at giving him a bumper contract to lure him to Italy.

The Old Lady and Serie A champions are also targeting Dortmund's English wonderkid Jadon Sancho, who is valued at £70m.
