The Love & Hip Hop couple, who conceived with the help of IVF, announced on Instagram in July that they were expanding their family. (She is also mom of Jayson, 18, from a previous relationship, while he has three children from previous relationships, according to The New York Post’s Page Six.)
Remy, 38, and Papoose, whose real name is Shamele Mackie, celebrated 10 years of marriage in July. The pair suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage that was documented on their VH1 reality series in 2017. At the time, a doctor told Remy she would not be able to have another child.
“I have to be the rock for her,” an emotional Papoose said on the show. “We’re gonna get through this it, we’ve just got to take it one day at a time. Regardless of what we have to do, we’re gonna get through it together.”
Remy revealed that she changed her diet after the miscarriage. “I lost a lot of weight prior to getting pregnant [again], so I can have a successful pregnancy,” she explained during an October appearance on The Breakfast Club radio show “I had to keep my weight down and keep it stable for about a year. I stopped eating meat. I stopped eating carbs, cut out sugars.”
In 2008, Remy was convicted of intentional assault after a shooting a member of her entourage who she thought had stolen $3,000. She was released in 2014 after serving six years of her eight-year sentence.
“I had to wait seven-and-a-half years for her to come home to have this baby,” Papoose said on The Breakfast Club. “Then when she came home she had to get to work. She finally got pregnant and then she had a miscarriage. It’s a special moment for me, because it’s a miracle baby, because we have been through so much to have this child and finally it’s happening.”
