Woman says 40-ton passenger jet is her BOYFRIEND – and she loves his wings and thrusters

Some might say it's a terminal condition, but Michele Kobke swears her jumbo-sized affection for the 737-800 Boeing is so strong she wants to MARRY the aircraft and move in with "him".

The bonkers Berliner, 29, reckons she's been in a tailspin over the plane for nearly five years.

She's dubbed it "Schatz" – German for "sweetheart" –  after falling in love with his wings and thrusters.

Sparks apparently flew when she clapped eyes on the plane at Berlin's Tegel Airport.

She said: "The last time I was in a relationship with a man was in 2011, but there was no love there.

"Schatz is my first love. This is the most beautiful relationship you can imagine.

“My first flight was at the end of November 2013 and I became so in love with aeroplanes, I got so excited every time I looked at aeroplane pictures and videos."

Michele added that, “on March 11, 2014, I was in Tegel airport and visited the aeroplanes and then came a 737-800 airplane, which approached me, and I have been so in love with him since.

“Schatz is so nice and I love his aerodynamics and his appearance, especially his wings and his support surface – I love it.

Schatz is so nice and I love his aerodynamics and his appearance… I love it. I was first attracted to his wings, winglets and thrusters.

"I was first attracted to his wings, winglets and thrusters.

“Every type of aircraft looks a bit different and my darling is the most updated version."

Her "relationship" is costly, she admits, adding: "My love is not easy, because I only meet him if I fly with my 737-800."

Of course, when the plane is in the hangar or on the taxiway, "it's not possible to be with him, so we don’t have much time together to enjoy each other’s company.

“I want to marry my sweetheart and live together in a hangar. It's a special kind of love and it does not hurt anyone.”

As she pines for Schatz, Michele copes with a no-frills version, by sleeping with a model of the plane in her bed.

Despite receiving a positive reaction from her family about her unconventional relationship, Michele admits that the long-distance element of it has been difficult.

But she uses components and models of the plane as a way to stay intimate with Schatz and she plans to marry him one day.

She said: “I sleep with my darling every night, either with real components or 1.6-meter model.

"Intimacy is part of our relationship.

"Since I’m in a long-distance relationship, it is a disadvantage as I can only get to him when I fly with him.

"My family has reacted quite pleasantly and accepted my relationship with my 737-800.

“I get many pejorative comments like that I need to go to therapy or that I am sick.

"But this love is present, and I’ve never been so happy."

The Berliner hit the headlines six years ago, when she shrunk her waist from 25in (64cm) to just 16in (40cm) by wearing a corset daily for three years, including while sleeping.

The Daily Mail reported that her stomach was so constricted back in 2013, that she was unable to eat a normal meal, and had to have 10 tiny meals a day.

What is object sexuality?

Some people are emotionally and sexually attracted to things.

Objectophilia is a form of sexuality focused on particular inanimate objects.

For example, people can be sexually aroused by buildings, or in Michele Kobke's case, planes.

Those with objectophilia may have strong feelings of attraction, love and commitment to certain items or structures of their fixation.

Psychology Matters explains that such individuals rarely have sex or form any kind of romantic relationship with other humans.

Instead, they develop strong emotional fixations to a particular thing or structure.

The object of their desire is seen as an equal partner in the "relationship".
