Woman finds man snoring on doorstep and thinks it’s prank until confronting him

A radio star discovered a snoring stranger on her doorstep after getting up for work at 5am – then filmed their bizarre exchange.

Polly James initially thought the man sleeping in front of her home was a prank until she confronted him and became "s*** scared".

But after speaking to the stranger, she ended up telling him she was "so glad" he had chosen her porch to kip on "over everyone else’s".

They even became Facebook friends, Wales Online reports.

The Capital South Wales breakfast show presenter – who filmed her encounter with the man – woke up early as usual to go to work.

She initially thought the snoring was coming from her neighbour’s home as she had the window open.

But when she went downstairs, she realised it was getting louder and echoing through her house. Bewildered, she investigated further to find the random man in her porch.

"I walked to my front door and it was coming from the other side of the door," she said.

"I looked out through the frosted window on my front door and there was a man lying on my front porch right by the door. If I had opened the door I would have pushed him out the way."

Polly then assumed co-host Matt Lissack had put the man up to it for a laugh.

She added: "My initial thought was to call Matt. I said ‘Matt, if this is one of your pranks, it’s not a good joke’. I was scared."

But after calling into the studio, based in the Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay, she realised this wasn’t a prank. And it made her "sh*t scared".

There really was a man she didn’t know sleeping on the doorstep of her home – and it meant she missed the start of her show, which runs from 6am to 10am each weekday morning.

She said: "I didn’t know what to do and by this point was late for the show, as I was still trying to wake this person up, so Matt started presenting the show on his own from 6am and was giving me advice what to do live on air.

"I didn’t want to open the door at first. I had no idea who it was. At first Matt told me not to open the door just to be on the safe side.

"He was so knocked out that I thought the only way I’m going to wake him is by kicking the door. I was hoping he could feel the bounce from the door.

"When I did that he started to stir. He then jumped up and scuttled away.

"But then he came back to the door, so I was wondering what he was going to do, so I started shouting at him to leave my property."

Polly added: "He was obviously a little worse for wear and found my lovely little porch for a sleep."

It transpired that the reveller in question, Pwyll Edwards from Bala, had lost his way trying to find his friend Ned, who it turned out lived on the same street as Polly.

She later took pity on him and they struck up a conversation.

"He’d lost his way, so I took pity on him and it turned out he was a little bit drunk and was looking for his friend Ned," she said.

"I asked if there was anything I could do for him and he said he couldn’t get hold of his mate."

Luckily the story had a happy ending as Pwyll’s mate Ned contacted Polly to tell her that they had been reunited.

"I’ve added Pwyll on Facebook and we are now Facebook friends," Polly added.

"I just hope my neighbours don’t think I’ve got this new boyfriend and I chucked him out and let him sleep on the front doorstep!"
