The arrest of the 50-year-old follows a "complex" investigation by Queensland Police along with multiple law enforcement and intelligence agencies after the punnets were found in several Aussie states.
Queensland authorities notified the public of the safety risk after the needles were found in several punnets on September 12.
It is believed the contamination of strawberries hit five states in Australia including Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and South Australia.
Following the alert, a police taskforce was established with officers from the State Crime Command coordinating the investigation into the contaminated fruit, cops said.
Cops have said that following the extensive investigation, officers arrested a 50-year-old woman this afternoon local time, and she is expected to be charged this evening.
The woman is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, Queensland Police have said.
The arrest comes after a mum claimed she found needles hidden inside strawberries bought at a supermarket in New South Wales in September.
She said the first needle was discovered when her daughter bit into one of the strawberries and found the hidden item.
After checking the rest of the punnet she claimed to find two more needles.
