A pet sitter hired through embattled dog-walking app Wag was allegedly caught on camera ransacking a client’s Long Island City home.
The shameless sitter, in a hoodie and long platinum-blond hair, can be seen stuffing goods into a large purse as two pups look on, in the footage posted on social media last week by pet owner Shayna Bryan.
“Dear @WagWalking, this is your @WagWalking employee stealing from my home. Please kindly respond to my email dated November 17, 2019,” Bryan wrote.
At one point, the sitter even tried to stuff a heavy-duty winter coat into the purse, but then appeared to change her mind, after Bryan, who was watching the caper go down on her phone, remotely set off an alarm.
Bryan told CBS New York that she was robbed of a bag, jewelry and makeup, worth between $700 and $800 total.
Bryan said she contacted cops, and tried three times to reach out to Wag, before finally hearing back.
“It took five days and basically a Facebook post going viral before they would respond, which was really disappointing and frustrating because I thought they would make something like this a top priority,” Bryan said.
Wag told the outlet they’re working with cops on the investigation, refunded Bryan for the walk and deactivated the walker’s account.
As for the stolen goods, “they said I need to provide receipts for anything that was stolen,” Bryan said.
“So if I don’t have receipts, I may not get reimbursed, which is a little frustrating.”
Walkers with the beleaguered app have been accused of losing or killing at least nine dogs in New York alone.
In October 2018, a sitter allegedly destroyed an Upper West Side couple’s apartment and even left blood all over their shower after getting drunk and becoming suicidal, The Post reported at the time.
