Shocking video shows the moment a New York man rescues a baby boy and a young girl from the jaws of a wild pit bull and wrestles the crazed dog to the ground in a heart-pounding moment all caught on camera.
Shocking video, which appeared to be taken from inside a car, shows a black pit bull pulling the coat hood and hair of one-year-old boy, as his older sister screams and tries to keep him in her arms on Hoyt Street in Spring Valley on Tuesday afternoon.
The sister is heard hysterically screaming and is brought to the ground by the dog’s powerful attack, but maintains her grasp around the baby.
The clip shows the moment frum Jewish man Moshe Lefkovits, a volunteer with the emergency services organization Chaverim of Rockland, bolts out of his car and rushes to help the two kids in despair.

Lefkovits kicked the dog to try and make it lose its grasp on the child. He ended up finding a knife and used that to cut the baby’s clothes to free it from the jaws of the pit bull
Chaverim is the network of Orthodox Jewish volunteer organizations that provide roadside and nonmedical help.

A young man named Aharon ben Toiba ran over to help the two kids but was severely bitten by the pit bull, according to Col Live. He suffered several deep wounds bite wounds on his hand and arm in the attack and was transported to Westchester Medical Center by Hatzolah of Rockland. He will undergo surgery for his injury.
In a second clip a man is seen lying on top of the dog, using all his weight to subdue the vicious animal while another man is seen holding a baton to the pit bull’s neck.
The dog appeared to have a metal chain leash still tied to its neck, but must have broken loose from wherever he was left.
In the video a man says: ‘No, no no I want to hold him down until the cops get here bro. He’s gonna start biting.’
More than 20 other volunteers responded to the scene, Chaverim officials said. The Spring Valley Police Department also responded to the incident.
Now police are hunting for information on the owner of the pit bull, which was taken to the Hi Tor Animal Shelter

In the attack the baby suffered a couple of bruises from being thrown back and forth.
The baby and his sister were not bitten in the incident thanks to Lefkovits quick thinking. But the girl did suffer minor injury to her leg.
According to local newspaper Hamodia, neighbors in the Spring Valley neighborhood had complained about the pit bull for months.
Now police are hunting for information on the owner of the pit bull, which was taken to the Hi Tor Animal Shelter.
